Illustrative engagements are composite examples showing how we approach this type of work. They do not describe a specific client.

Abstract

A differentiated view of deposit price sensitivity, customer attrition, and Shariah-compliant product demand.

Fig. 1 — A visual study of evidence and uncertainty.

A regional bank

The question

Where should the bank compete on deposit pricing, and which customers would consider a new Shariah-compliant offer?

Context

A regional bank faced changing deposit behavior and interest in a Shariah-compliant product. Aggregate rates and balances obscured who was likely to leave, while stated product interest could not explain real trade-offs. Leaders also needed to understand when customers preferred a branch relationship over a digital journey.

Our approach

Frame
Define pricing, retention, product, and channel decisions and the segments each affects.
Collect
Review account and transaction histories; interview customers and field a carefully worded choice study.
Analyze
Estimate price elasticity and attrition drivers; model product trade-offs and branch-versus-digital preference.
Validate
Back-test behavioral patterns, inspect survey comprehension, and stress-test adoption scenarios.
Advise
Provide segment-level pricing guardrails, product design priorities, and channel decisions for leadership.

Methods

Behavioral evidence
Deposit cohorts · Transaction analysis · Attrition modeling
Customer research
Qualitative interviews · Conjoint for new products
Decision models
Price elasticity · Channel preference · Scenario testing

What the client received

  • Deposit pricing and retention framework
  • Shariah-compliant product concept priorities
  • Branch-versus-digital segment findings
  • Leadership readout and scenario model

Outcome

The bank could distinguish relationships requiring a rate response from those better served through product or service design, and decide which new-product assumptions needed further testing.
